Birmingham is the second largest economy in the UK with jobs available mostly in the service sector. Birmingham has more than its fair share of public admin jobs. Other strong recruitment areas are education and healthcare, including all types of teaching jobs and nursing jobs. The financial sector is also strong, with banking, finance and insurance jobs regularly shown. Lloyds Bank and HSBC Bank are major employers in the city. The International Convention Centre and National Exhibition Centre brings in conference and exhibitions resulting in hospitality, catering, admin and stewarding jobs. The various sporting and cultural venues attract large numbers of visitors to Birmingham.
Birmingham city centre is the UK's 3rd largest retail centre. The Bullring is one of the busiest shopping centres in the country. Jobs such as sales assistant and customer service jobs are provided by high street shops such as Selfridges, Debenhams, Next and supermarkets like Asda and Tesco. In the manufacturing sector Jaguar Cars are in Castle Bromwich and Cadbury Trebor Bassett in Bournville.
